We all want to live a long, healthy life, and many of us have turned to multivitamins as a daily habit to help us get there. I mean, who hasn’t thought that popping a daily pill could be a quick and easy way to ensure we’re getting all the nutrients we need?
But what if I told you that the latest research is challenging this idea? A recent study titled “Multivitamin Use and Mortality Risk in 3 Prospective US Cohorts” has given us a lot to consider when it comes to relying on those daily supplements.
With data from over 390,000 participants followed for more than 20 years, the findings are as enlightening as they are surprising.
The study’s results suggest that taking a daily multivitamin might not be the health shortcut we’ve always believed it to be. Instead of lowering the risk of mortality, the study found that multivitamin users actually had a slightly higher mortality risk compared to non-users.
This might make you rethink reaching for that multivitamin bottle each morning.
