Around here, we like to focus on the positive. Well, today I want to shine the light on something negative, and tell you how NOT to reach your goals this year in this article.
Because if you make one big mistake, it can lead you into a HUGE trap that will leave you feeling frustrated, burned out, and like a quitter.
How does it happen?
You made some huge goals for the New Year (yay!!!! ). You will finally get your act together as of right now.
You'll drink every drop of water, eat very clean food (and write down everything you eat), be extra busy, early to bed, and get up even EARLIER.
But after a few days, you're worn out. You decide to sleep in and you don't work out. Then you’ll eat some cookies or chips and decide there's no point in keeping a food journal anymore.
That "off track" day turns into two days. Which becomes three. And you know what happens next.
And then you give up.
It's not because you don't have enough drive or willpower. It's because you tried to do too much or made too many promises.
Coaches and trainers talk about SMART goals because of this (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-sensitive).
They break down all of your big, awesome goals into small pieces that you can actually do without feeling tired, overwhelmed, and like giving up.
And, yes, it can be hard to do that for yourself sometimes.
So, we made this Goal Setting Activity, which gives you step-by-step instructions to help you figure out what your goals are and how you'll reach them without getting too tired.
It has already helped our members, and you can use it as well. You can get the free pdf here!
